January is usually a quiet month in the Frosting Bar kitchen when it comes to customer's orders. A month you can take advantage of and have a soft reset. Many people set their resolutions to eat healthier or lose weight. And it is understandable since we usually tend to eat more than we usually do during the holidays. After the holiday rush, I tend to crave slower days, cozier ones. It is a time that I usually have the luxury of being creative and looking into my cookbooks, rather than baking for someone else.

This month wasn’t about doing everything. It was about showing up — even in small ways — and easing back into the Frosting Bar rhythm.

What came out of the oven

I initially wanted to post 2 recipes on the blog, starting with the Pound Cake. But as that was happening, I found myself being so inspired, that I ended up adding a few more recipes. The Lemon Curd is a perfect one that will have 2 more recipes coming up in February being tied up to that. And I also did 2 glazes to drizzle over the cake. Again, I was only going to make an Orange Glaze, but it came out so delicious, that I wanted to make the Lemon Glaze, too!!

The second recipe I wanted to share, it one that I promised on my Instagram account that I was sharing with everyone back in November. It's my homemade Pumpkin Pie, which of course comes with a homemade crust. A recipe I will be sharing in February, since I ran out of days in January 😅.

But that wasn't the only thing that came out of the oven. I also made a couple of cakes for loyal customers.

This above was my favorite of the month. A circus theme christening cake.

And the best part of all, is that I had time to experiment with a flavor I have been meaning to try for a while: Chili Brownies !!

You can of course check the whole month's extravaganza on my YouTube Channel.
