When I first tested my pound cake recipe, my initial thought was to go with a thin lemon glaze — the kind that soaks in quickly and barely leaves a trace. But once I gave that thin glaze a try, I realized that the cake was too dense and buttery, and needed something a little more substantial. Something spoonable. Something that would linger.

That’s how this thick lemon glaze came to be. Inspired by the Thick Orange Glaze.

It’s still bright and citrusy, still sweet, but with enough body to slowly drip down the sides of a cake instead of disappearing into it. This is the glaze I will be reaching for when I want lemon flavor without turning a cake into a full-on lemon dessert.

What you can use it on:

This glaze is incredibly flexible. It works beautifully with:

  • Pound cakes and loaf cakes

  • Bundt cakes

  • Muffins

  • Scones

  • Cookies

If it’s buttery, vanilla-forward, or lightly spiced — this glaze will probably love it.

Honestly, I drizzle it on whatever's around 🙈
