Thick Orange Glaze - Recipe

This is a super easy, yet full of flavor glaze you can use over loaf cakes -- I did with my Pound Cake, Bundt Cakes, even scones. If you're into breakfast pastries, you can get a cinnamon roll and upgrade it with a drizzle of this glaze, over your cranberry muffin, or even a donut. All you need is powdered sugar, an orange and some vanilla if you have it. It takes about 3 minutes to put together and brings out a citrusy flavor to anything you pair it with.
I liked this glaze so much, I also ended up making the Lemon version of it (recipe coming up soon).
A Note on Ingredients
Freshly squeezed orange juice is a must! - I like it so fresh, that I even cut the orange from the tree in my back yard right before using it. Bottled orange juice just doesn't taste the same. If course, no one will judge if you don't have oranges on hand (but you will need the zest of one..)
Fine zest - try to grate your zest as fine as possible, so you don't get the bitter aftertaste of the skin.
Sifted powdered sugar - many people don't sift their powdered sugar, but I always do. I live in a high humidity environment, so there's always about to be a lump that will drive me nuts, if I don't sift first.

Some Thoughts
This thick orange glaze is proof that you don’t need complicated techniques to elevate a dessert. Sometimes all it takes is the right finishing touch 😉.
If you’ve baked the pound cake already, this is your sign to dress it up. And if you haven’t — start here.
